Which verb or word do we use to describe an act or people where they talk and lie unnecessarily. Just to get attention.

For instance

I asked my friend what do you do in that hospital he said he's a doctor there, but I know he's not a doctor asking about salary he said 5000$ but I know he gets only 500$. He talks about having political power or connections but in reality he's just a guy they use for their purpose like handkerchief. And many more things like this. Being too much proud of about things and saying something even if they know or they don't care about whether the listener know the truth or not.

I hope I was able to describe.

"Speaking high in air"
