"Zoos" or "The zoos"

Hi

I have taken this discussion from another forum--and despite the long discussions I need some more light here. Am I to understand that all should come before animals to make it more natural or the before zoos? Please note that I'm very slow on the uptake.

Nobody should enjoy going to zoos in which animals are kept in cages.

Many thanks,

Tom

As there are countless zoos, I see no need for an article before zoos. The sentence is fine as it is. Some might add the before animals .

But did you see the link I gave in my post? Please do--the whole argument is based on this point.

There are all sorts of arguments going on all the time. I just gave my opinion and fully understand that not everybody agrees with me. (Just as I don't agree with everybody!

Small "z" for sure.

If you want to put the "all" in, say "all the animals."

"The" is used to indicate specific items. You would say "to the zoos" only if you intend to indicate some specific zoos, such as the zoos in the city where you live. "The Animals" works better because it implies you are refering only to the animals in the zoo, not all animals. When you add "all" before
