I won't be going long. I just need to zip over to the store for some milk.

I suspect the reason that zip over means move over quickly is because zipping a fly is really fast.

I suspect the reason that zip over means move over quickly is because that zipping a fly is really fast.
Good try. Historically, it's the reverse. The reason that zipper means a fastener that works quickly is that zip means move quickly!
