Zero growth in economy and the growth of televison

When should I put an article before the word growth?
How would you say:

1) This is a period of (×) zero growth in economy. (no article), OR
1b) This is a period of the zero growth in economy.

2) This food stimulates (×) plant growth. (no article), OR
2b) This food stimulates the plant growth. (the article)

3) Cinemars declined with (×) growth of television. (no article)
3b) Cinemars declined with the growth of television. (the article)
