A cute look is one that is loveable but may not be right in the situation. If someone is making you late for something and they give you a cute look, you may think - well, thanks for that but, at the moment, I'm more worried about us being late

'Little' doesn't add much - it shows that the effect on the writer is annoying rather than cute
