Your Opinion, Please

Does anybody personally view the following as 'bad' style (esp. with the omission of full stops in 'am/pm'? Does the sentence's general structure look okay?

At 4:15 pm, Sunday, July 16, 2003, Mike Jones was arrested on four counts of grand larceny.

Thanks, guys and gals.

I believe it is becoming more and more common to ignore the periods in am and pm (in context, of course). I, personally don't like the looks of a comma after the year in a date, but most people disagree with me and use it as well. [ The general rule is that if there's a comma before, a comma must follow.

Agree. I see no real purpose for it. Nevertheless, I suppose one ought to stick with the same style manual for the whole manuscript, so it rather depends on the style manual.

How would you write it, then? Just curious. I hate the commas too.

We're only talking about one comma; not 'commas'. Emotion: smile

Periods or no periods – just be consistent.
