Hello,

I'm confused either to use was or were as in example below:

1. You were the one who was giving it away
2. You were the one who were giving it away

Is it correct to use #2 since the subject is You?

I'm confused about whether to use 'was' or 'were' as in the example below.

2. You were the one who were giving it away.

Is it correct to use #2 since the subject is You? No, because it's the singular "You". "You were the one..."
