You were much more...

Oliver sees his girlfriend wearing the bracelet
she gave to her deceased friend for her bithday and says:

You know you were much more than that.
Meaning she was a better person than that?

Top answer

, Possibly, but it's hard to say without more context. If her deceased friend had returned the bracelet to her from her deathbed, saying "I want you to have this back, as a memento of me" then that hardly makes Oliver's girlfriend a bad person. If, however, Oliver's girlfriend had whipped the bracelet off of her wrist whilst she was comatose in a hospital bed, then that's a different story.

A guy shot her girlfriend while she was still wearing the bracelet.
Then Tess shows up at Oliver with that bracelet.

Hi Madhulk,

Hmmm, even with more context, I still find the remark "You know you were much more than that" ambiguous here. Oliver's girlfriend's motives for putting the bracelet of her dead friend onto her own wrist are still unclear: it could have been a respectful-***-sentimental act, or alternatively, a mercenary one.

I think I'll have to pass on this
