You want me to wear this bright dress?

Hi

Is this sentence natural?

(Girl to her sister)

You want me to wear this bright dress? Excuse me, I'm going to a tea party, not a marriage ceremony.

Thanks,

Tom

In terms of English it's fine. In terms of overall sense, I'm not so sure. I don't especially associate bright dresses with marriage ceremonies, and I don't especially exclude them from tea parties, so it falls a bit flat.
