You vs. Your

Hello,

Can someone explain why the following sentence is correct re: your?

I really don't appreciate youyour walking late into class every morning.

To me, it seems as if you would be the correct choice.

Many kind thanks in advance for anyone who answers this post.

Hi PMB, The word "walking" is a gerund and it acts like a noun. Therefore, it takes a possessive. If you flip the sentence "Your walking into class late every morning is something I don't appreciate" it becomes clear that it's a noun.
