'You should take the board through various...'?

Hi,

Please have a look at this:

You should take the board through various scenarios, using clear numbers to show what the new performance measures should be in different conditions and how management’s reward may be affected if stock market conditions do not improve. You may discuss the dilemma confronting the board if management performs better than does the relevant competition yet the price of your company's stock declines.

=> Do you think 'what' should be replaced with 'that'?

=> Does the bold part mean that company's management performs better than the management of rival companies?

Many thanks,

Nessie.

Thank you very much, MM

However I'm still not very clear about that. 'to show how...' is all right, but 'to show what...' is not, because that question can't be answer, can it? In a question beginning with 'what', 'what' stand for the subject or the object ('what is that?' => subject; 'what can you do?' => object). But in this case it doesn't need a subject to be the answer (becaus

nessie, the word "what" can serve more than one function.

It can be a "question" word (What are you wearing tonight? What do you think we should do?) But that is not the only way it is used.

Let's take a more simple example:

Here is what you need.

That definitely does, Barb. Sorry I misinterpret the meaning so I thought 'what' was wrong there +_+

Anyway, thank you soooo.... much
