Hello,

Which of the following sentences are correct? Please fix them if possible.

1. Really? Or you say that because you don't want to make me sad.

2. Really? Or you're saying that because you don't want to make me sad.

3. Really? Or you say that because you feel sorry for me and don't want to make me sad.

4. Really? Or you're saying that because you feel sorry for me and you don't want to make me sad.

5. 4. Really? Or you're just trying to comfort me because you feel sorry for me.

This seems most natural to me:

Really? Or are you just/only saying that because ... ?

"... because you feel sorry for me?" is fine. "sad" seems a less likely choice of word in this scenario.

I don't think using present simple tense is natural. Continuous or past tense are more common here.

Really? Or you're just trying to comfort me.
