"You said you had..." still have it or not?

Hi, I want to approach the matter of tense back-shifting once again.

You said you had an external optical drive for this PC.

Now, according to what I know, this sentence probably means that the person still has the external optical drive. Now... how can I express the fact that the person had an external drive without using any extra time expressions? Should I say:

You said you had had an external optical drive for this PC.

Thanks
