You or you?

When you (or You:)) write a letter to someone you..say respect, do you usually write 'you' as 'You', i.e. with a capital Y.

Example:

''Dear professor XY,

I want to thank You for....''

Is that something that is often used in English language or not used at all?

Tnx!

There are some similar rules you can apply when expressing respect in my mother language and also some other languages, like German (for example, they use second-person plural(Sie) in stead of second-person singular(du)).
