"You have?/You do?"

In reply to the statement, "I have something to tell you.", you'd typically answer with one of the following:


"Oh?"

"What is it?"


Replying with "You have?" is very rude-sounding. "You do?" is a little better, but still too harsh-sounding as an answer to this.

Yes. "You do?" is more in keeping with my American variety of English.

I suspect the British might be more likely to use either one indifferently.
