You have that word somewhere in your mind but at present you couldn't

Is the following sentence correct?
You have that word somewhere in your mind but at present you couldn't recall it because your memory recollecting device doesn't exactly know its location.

I think it's okay. It's a little creative, but we're still figuring out how it all works up there, and one man's analogy is as good as another's. I'd probably say "the recollecting device in my memory," so that we think of the memory as the whole rigamarole, comprising both storage and retrieval.

  • Still others might prefer "recollection device," but I personally prefer the verbal.
