You have been told that dormitory rooms at your university must be shared by two students. Would you rather have the university assign a student to share a room with you, or would you rather choose your own roommate? Use specific reasons and details to explain your answer.

Many students believe that dormitory rooms at a university must be assigned to students rather than letting them picking their roommates by themselves, meanwhile others adhere to an opposite view. I believe that the university must assign a student to share a room because it teaches them how to respect others’ privacy and to avoid to ruin friendship between students who are already friends.

To begin, I must say nowadays people have a difficult to respect others ‘privacy.
There is no doubt that this lack of understanding of the importance of respecting others’ privacy will affect adversely our lives. Students need to acquire this skill in their early life that is why universities should assign students to share rooms to teach them how to live with strangers and how to learn to respect their spaces.
My experience in my college is a good example of what I mean. My best friend went to a different college so I ended up sharing my campus room with a stranger. She was a girl that I never met her and now I had to sleep with her in the same room. It was hard at the beginning however I was entirely open to this new experience. I learned how to be quit when she studied and to respect her space. I do not think I would have learned how to respect others privacy without this experience.

Moreover, almost for sure that a best friend is not always a good roommate.
Furthermore hanging out with friends is different that living with them. I can recall my experience with my best friend Sabrina. We went to the same pharmacy school and we shared the same room for the whole semester. I thought it was a good idea to live with her however with time I realized that I did not know many things about her. She was anti-cleaning, she did not clean her room and she always threw everywhere. This started to affect me and I tried to talk to her but it was hard to try to change someone. I learned that the fastest way to ruin a friendship is to live together.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that the university should assign a student to share rooms. This is because can teach students to respect others privacy and to avoid any problems with students who are already friends.
