You got me wrong? misunderstood?

How would you say in this situation:

(10:30p.m) You answered the phone from your friend who usually call around that time on the way back home.

You : Oh you must be going back home.

he: No, not this time, I'm still working!

You : Oh, are you, I thought you are on your way back home as usual.

he : ~~(you got me wrong?/ you misunderstood?)

Even if the situation is weird, I want to know an expression suited in the last turn of 'he' (I don't think 'you got me wrong' or 'you misunderstood' fit on the response.

Neither "you got me wrong" nor "you misunderstood" fits this situation.

A re-statement of He: "No, I'm still working", is sufficient and may invite an inquiry, such as You: Why are you still at work?

May I suggest replacing "expression suited in the last turn" with "expression suitable for the last line" or "expression suited to the last". For greater clarity, I would say

Thank CJ and Amonymous(I like you correcting every detail in my writing)

Actually, my intent is .......... it's very hard to put my idea in words. I may need to make a perfect dialogue for expressions I may misunderstand 'you got me wrong,' and 'you misunderstood.'
