A man kills an artist after he finishes his painting and says.
You won't feel a thing. You give your life for a place in history.
He gives his life in the name of history or history will remember him

The sentence is ambiguous, in my view. The antecedent of "his" is up for grarbs.
Also, are we to assume that this is a portrait, or are we not?
