You don't have to measure sugar for such a small cake.

Hi

(I am sure I have asked this question before, but don't really remember when and where.)

Any of the underlined words works here?

You don't have to measure sugar for such a small cake. You can put it with your?? estimation/approximation/judgment.

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks, Clive.

So these work fine?

Yes.

More natural is 'the sugar' and 'your own judgment'.

We often say 'measure out' for recipes.

I would write: You don't have to measure exactly the amount of sugar for such a small cake; use your judgement.
