(You) Come...

In somewhat formal writing (church newsletter - U.S.) is it OK to start a sentence with "Come"? As in...
Come learn about: how to communicate, personality differences, finances and budgeting, and much more! I know that the subject is an implied you, but it still seems wrong to me.

Hi Clh, Well, somewhat formal writing is a bit subjective. In addition, I think of AmE as less formal then BrE. ' would be out of place here, but there are many ways to avoid it, if you want to.

Well, somewhat formal writing is a bit subjective. In addition, I think of AmE as less formal then BrE. Personally, I wouldn't think 'Come learn...' would be out of place here, but there are many ways to avoid it, if you want to.

Grammatically there is nothing wrong with Come learn about.... If you want to avoid any hint of "Come on down!" or "Yawl come!", you could say You are (cordially) invited to learn about....
