You asked me to get the telephone

Boy: What's that noise?
Mom: It's the phone. It's the noise of the telephone ringing.
Can you get it, please?
Boy: Do I have to?
Mom: Yes, you must.
Boy: If I must, I must.
Mom: What are you doing?
Boy: Well, you asked me to get the telephone and I'm trying to bring
it to you, but it's impossible.
Mom: Of course, it's impossible to bring it to me. I don’t want you
to bring it to me. I just want you to answer.
