You are so lucky? You were so lucky?

If my friend tells me, "Oh I got to know a beautiful girl today!"

Should I reply "You are so lucky!" or "You were so lucky!" ?

Hard to decide because it was a past event (got to know a girl), so I think I should use "You were so lucky!"

but looks like he is still happy now, and he is still lucky at the point of speech.

Which one?

You don't need to decide.

Say "Lucky you!"
