You are LIKE a dream or AS a dream?

My guess, not being a native speaker, is that AS is not used there when comparing to a noun or noun phrase without a verb. LIKE is used in that case unlike, for example, 'They did as I told them'. Would both LIKE and AS be ok in my initial example? Do native speakers say both or just LIKE in that context?

Thanks.
