You are entitle/entitled to?

Could someone please tell me the correct word to use in the following sentence and why?
"We believe our members are entitle to the same rights as other people."
"We believe our members are entitled to the same rights as other people."
Is it entitle or entitled and why?
Thanks for your help!

Hi TracyH, 'Entitled', because it's a passive sentence, and you need the past participle. 'Entitle' makes no sense at all. Clive

Here is my two cents.

"be entitled to" is right.
The verb "entitle" is a transitive, so it can be changed into a passive which requires a past participle form of the main verb. "entitle" always pairs with "to." There is no reason for this. It was born that way.
