You are a waste of oxygen

Hi

Though I understand what this sentence means, I'm not able to understand its syntax: Some people are a waste of oxygen. Is "a waste of oxygen" an adjectival phrase modifying "Some people"? Would you please provide me with a syntactically similar sentence?

Thank you for the help.

Hi Jackson, I don't understand your difficulty. Are you asking if we can say that a person is a thing? Yes, we can.
