'You are a banker' or 'You are banker'

hi guys,

Need some help here.

'By the same token, the better you get at it, the more you begin to love it.And that can be whether you're banker, you're lawyer...'

My understanding is there should be an 'a' in front of 'banker' and 'laywer', but the subtitle doesn't have it.

Maybe it's okay to skip the 'a' in casual talks?

This was from Vera Wang's interview at 21m1s
