You and me

Hello! I would like to ask you for help. I m not sure when to use you and me. It is incorrect on its own, only used in song lyrics, but sometimes it is correct. The question is when? With prepositions like between you and me?

Thank you in advance!

Yes, with prepositions, i.e. when the phrase is the object of the preposition, and when the phrase is the object of a verb:

We'll share this cake between you and me.

The teacher likes you and me.
