teacher : Why do we feel that these rainbows are so fairytale like? Have you ever thought about that?

student : I haven’t. I mean, even if “you” think about it, there’s no way to know.

In the context, It seems to me that ‘you’ means not teacher but himself. (student) I don’t understand Why the student used ‘you’ instead of ‘I’?
