1.can explain to me why had this word should be used in the question 1? It is because it appeared as past tense?
2. our is plural. Why 'is' is using in this sentence? not 'are' is supposed?

Sentence 1 - If you had worked faster, we could have turned in the project before the deadline.

This expresses a condition in the past that did not happen - You did not work faster and so we didn't turn in the project before the deadline.

Sentence 2 - Our favourite activity is cycling.

Our activity = singular = is
