Yet...

Hello,

I have seen the word "yet" placed in different places in the following sentece and wondering if there is a correct/incorrect way or just a matter of preference:

We have not received it yet.

or

We have not yet received it.

Thank you.

Hi, Sofia Well, "yet" usually goes at the end of a negative statement or a question. For instance: - I havent't opened my present yet. - Have you sent my check yet ?

  • It'd sound odd if placed in a different position.

We have not received it yet. <<< Normal.

or

We have not yet received it. <<< Fine. Perhaps a little more formal.

If I were you, I'd place yet at the end.
