Yesterday—comma

Hello,

Are the commas in this sentence correct? "Today, the weather is really cold, but yesterday(,) it was much colder."

Should there be a comma before it? If not, why?

Thanks for any replies!

You don't need commas before one-word adverbs like 'today' and 'yesterday'. Just write Today the weather is really cold, but yesterday it was much colder. CJ
