Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery!

Hi guys Emotion: smile

When i was watching "Kung Fu Pand" the movie, I heard this sentence

"Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift"

So, why we didn‘t put "a" with "history" and we put "a" with "mystery and gift"?

I‘m sure the sentence is right, i looked at it in the english sub.

Thanks Emotion: smile

In this case, "history" refers to the entire past. There is only one past. But there can be more than one mystery or gift.

If they wanted strict parallels, they could have said something like "Yesterday is an old tale, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift."
