Which is correct of all below choices?

Yes, I will be there.
Yes; I will be there.

No, I won't.
No; I won't.

Yes, that's the reason for his demise.

I wouldn't say the semi-colon version is wrong, but it looks extremely odd. I don't think I've ever seen that before in my life. Clive

I wouldn't say the semi-colon version is wrong, but it looks extremely odd. I don't think I've ever seen that before in my life.

I thought we would need semicolons because if we didn't it would be comma splices in all.

Use a comma after the initial "yes" or "no." (They are adverbs.)
You can make two sentences and put a full stop (period) after the "yes" or "no." (It becomes an imperative form, a single-word sentence.)
Strictly speaking, the semicolon is not incorrect. But it's ugly.
