Yes and No Written Answers

1. When answering a written yes/no question on an application, should it be written "Yes."/"No." or "yes"/"no"?
Should there be a capital letter with a period?

2. When answering a written yes/no question followed by an explanation, should it be written "Yes/No, blah, blah, blah." or "Yes. Blah, blah, blah."?

That is unnecessary. I don't see any importance in how the single word is written in a blank on a form.
