Yark

Yark = puke? Where can I find on line the expression for the word?

Context:

Seven eggs is quite a few for a four-year-old.
I felt all right for awhile, and then I yarked all over the floor.

Well, I've never actually heard the word 'yark' before, but in the context it does seem that the writer meant 'puke'. However, I have heard the word 'barf' (meaning 'puke').

Hi,

Did you google this term? I did, and I found this.

Had you actually seen or heard the word used, Clive? I think the usage of this word must be rather rare.

Hi,

No, it's new to me. I imagine it is teen speak / street slang.

Vomiting seems, in particular, to fascinate kids and generate new slang. Some of it seems to stay around, eg barf, and some of it ends up vanishing, eg do people still say 'hurl' or even 'spew'?

Hi NL888
I do believe I've heard tell of Stephen King. A fellow Yank. It's about a 5-hour drive to Bangor from here. Emotion: wink
