I know Corp is the short for Corporation, but how about Inc? In addition, what's the difference between an inc. and a corp.? Thanks a lot.

Corporation is a noun used to describe an incorporated company.

US law has a few designations for legal status of companies, these are used to protect individuals from liability. If someone sues your restaurant, and it isn't incorporated, you are responsible for damages. If it is incorporated, your personal money can't be touched.

LLC is a common designation, a Limited Liability

Hi Vorpar, are you saying that Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo Inc are both incorporated companies with different designated names? So Microsoft Corp is the short for Microsoft Corporation, and Yahoo Inc. for Yahoo Incorporated? Right? Thanks a lot.
