X = y How would we describe them?

Hello,Might we describ the ( x = y) this way : x is the same as Y? or x is equal (even) as (with) y? Is it ok to say Her smile equals sunshine? Is the above to say Her smile is equal ( or even) as (or with) sunshine?

Hi,
the sunshine of her smile

the "of" shows "to be a sign of" / "to symbolize / metaphorize"

the "of" shows for making a sign / metaphor about one's behavior

May I say so?

Thank you for your help.
