X Factor

What does it mean when they say a person has that certain X factor? Is this synonymous with

je ne sais quoi? Could you give a quick example of its usage?

It usually means a key/effective/winning quality, perhaps undefinable, but germane to the context. For men, it is something like machismo, for instance. htm ]WISE GEEK[/url] goes into it in more detail than I am willing to.
