Speech & Pronunciation

www

Hi everybody, I was wondering how do you say "www" when you have to dictate a web site to somebody.

Do you say always "world wide web" or you say something like "triple double u?"

I asked this because in Italy we say "voo voo voo". Thank you!Emotion: smile

In the Uk we say 'double-u, double-u, double-u' and it is soooooo longwinded. A few people seem to have started saying 'wuh, wuh, wuh' instead.

Wait a minute - we have conflicting reports of how to say www in Italy -- is it wuh-wuh-wuh or voo-voo-voo??? I've never heard either of these in the U.S. -- I think people are just beginning to omit it entirely. If I were telling someone about this site (in conversation, not writing), I would just say "go to EnglishForward.com" and assume that they know to add the www.

I made a little research about phonetics; the correct one is with "v" pronounced like in "very" and the "u" in "full".

Thank you for your information about USA way! We say always "www", even if people know to add the www

According to the local newspaper you're right. As far as I remember it says as we are typing 'www', we aren't aware of the diabolical world that will open in a few minutes.
