WTC attack or WTC attacks

With regard to 9/11, should I say/write, "the WTC attack" or "the WTC attacks"?

BTW, is it possible to say "the attack(s) on the WTC"?

Thank you.

Since all the perpetrators were organized into one group, and coordinated their attack, we use the singular form. The attack on the World Trade Center.
