WT2 - Urban crime rate

Each year, the crime rate increases. What are the causes of crime and what could be done to prevent this rise in criminal activity?

In recent years, there has been a growing trend towards crime rate, (wrong usage) leading to some serious problems of security in many nations. Identifying the reasons behind is (missing word) key to limit (wrong word) this trend.

There are several reasons causing this phenomenon. First, since the law system, including policies and enforcement, is weak in some countries, allowing criminals to feel free to violate the law without being afraid of punishment. For example, since Western countries, such as (missing word) Netherlands and England, avoid (wrong word) (missing word) death penalty, the number of murdering (wrong form) cases on (wrong word) those nations is much higher than those applying death punishment. (wrong usage) Second, the popularity of social media usually comes with uncontrolled bad content, such as sex and violence. This leads to negative effects on thinking and behaviors of many people, especially the youth who are susceptible to be influenced by outside elements, resulting (missing word) the significant increase in number of youth criminals over the last 10 years.

Nevertheless, there are also a variety of solutions to mitigate this trend. First, the law makers should consider to propose (wrong form) stricter penalties to prevent citizens from commiting crimes. In fact, the developing countries, which apply death penalty that many developed ones avoid due to considerations on human rights, usually have a vitally lower rate of serious crimes. Second, the governments and large companies that operates in social media, such as Facebook and Google, should work together to control and monitor content on social channels by limitations of ages in order to provide healthy internet environment. Therefore, teenagers and children would be safe from bad content until they are old enough to access. (??)

In conclusion, the weak law system and uncontrolled content are two main causes which can explain the trend. By the cooperation between the governments and relative firms, crime rate would be decline.
