WT2 - Computer Skills

For a century, there has been taught in reading, writing and math. With the development of computer technology, some people think that school should teach computer skills as fourth main subject. What extent do you agree or disagree?

In recent years, computers have gained in popularity worldwide, providing many significant advantages to human life. Although learning computer skills as a main subject could put students under more pressure, its upsides still outweigh the disadvantages.

One of the main reasons is that computer skills benefit social life of users. First, accessing the Internet through computer is a convenient and economic way to get information and news around the world. For example, this tool reduce cost including time and transportation fee to store where you buy newspapers or magazines as traditional way. Second, by the unlimited geographical and time conditions, you should contact to friends and families, even if you are separated from million miles away. Therefore, users could keep many long-lasting acquaintances without considering on contact problem.

Another major reason is these skills would positively affect to the future career. In fact, most of office positions on job market nowadays require the computer skills as a must-have condition. For instance, if candidates are not familiar to common computer applications, such as Microsoft Office and Gmail, it will be vitally difficult to be hired. In addition, jobs that are relative to special computer fields,, such as intelligent technology and software engineer, are susceptible to have higher income. Since the demand of these positions are high, a computer engineer usually has the monthly wage 2 times higher than other jobs’ s at the same level.

In conclusion, we should consider adding computer skills school main subjects as their advantages to student‘s social life and future job.
