Nowadays celebrities are more famous for their glamour and wealth than for their achievements, and this sets a bad example to young people. To extent do you agree or disagree with this statement
In recent year, many people argue that famous people do not establish their reputation by successful achievements, but their glamour and wealth, becoming negative role models for the young. Although I agree with the viewpoint, I think that there are also public figures who have gained reputation for their contribution to the society and their success.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that numerous celebrities make use of the image of being reach to attract general public’s attention. The majority of people choosing to be popular in this way inherits a huge fortune from their family. They spend their money living a luxury life, buying prohibitively expensive clothes from top brand names or travelling to lavish cities to enjoy their life. Seeing that, young people who have not been adequately and correctly aware of analysing social problems would be easily attracted by that lifestyle. A a consequence, the young would be oriented to follow that so-called ideal lifestyles which are totally realistic and detrimental to the general development of individuals and the society.
On the other hand, beside some cases of people being known for luxury outlooking, there are several celebrities admired because of their nonstop efforts and miracle results. For instance, Phan Dang Nhat Minh, called the Google boy of Vietnam, is famous for his great performance at an intelectual competition, showing his deep and wide knowledge both academically and practically. Public figures like Nhat Minh would positively influence the public and be the ideal models for others to follow.
In conclusion, I think that there are both people known for their achievements and people gain popularity for their wealthy lifestyles. They all have impacts on society and individuals in an positive or negatively way
