The plans below show the layout of a university’s sports centre now, and how it will look after the development.

The two pictures compare the current floor plan of a university's sports centre with a plan to redesign the same space.

We can see that the new design proposal involves making a number of changes to the sports centre, mainly in the outdoor courts. There are no plans to change the reception or the central pool area.

The most noticeable change from the existing to the proposed layout is that there will no longer be any outdoor courts when the redevelopment work is done. This will be achieved by turning outdoor courts into a leisure pool in the west and a sports hall in the east respectively. With no outdoor courts, all the facilities will be inside the door as well.

To add some new functions to the sports centre, a sports shop and a cafe will open on either sides of the reception along with two extra changing rooms. The gym will have double space compared with the present size after expanding to the east. Finally, the new sports centre will also include two dance studios.
