Wrong transcription

Hi, there's an audio file (the second) in this..[link deleted]...and the part I'm having trouble with is this:



...which I suppose in this day and age would be very much frowned upon and it'd be a great wonder how such a tenor could have such a great voice, smoking, so the story goes.


it seems to me that it's not the exact transcription but I can't figure out how it changes if it does.

Only two corrections:
"...such a great voice..."
"...as so the story goes."
