Wrong sentences

Hello,

How do I explain to a student why these sentences are wrong?

That's a new restaurant/theatre/museam/library.

Have you gone to it?

Have you gone in it?(Gone should be always followed by 'to')

Have you been in it?
Have you been to it?(Correct)

That's a new bank.

Have you gone in it? (it should be 'to')

Thanks

Have you gone to it? (common for restaurants, stores)
Have you gone in it? (common for museums, libraries, banks)

Does this mean I can't use to for museuns, libraries, banks and that I can't use in for restaurants and stores?

Thanks

It's probably worth saying that the stress pattern can make a difference.

Stressed words in bold. OK means it's correct for the meaning you want.

Have you gone to it? OK.
Have you been to it? OK.

Have you gone in it? OK. Also, Have you g

I actually believe that "Have you gone in it?" is the better sentence - it's more to the point, more sophisticated-sounding:

That's a new restaurant. Have you gone in it?
That's a new theater. Have you gone in it?
That's a new museum. Have you gone in it?
That's a new library. Have you gone in it?
That's a new bank. Have you gone in it?

That's the way I would
