Some people think that goverments should give financial support to creative artists such as: painters and musicians. Other believe that creative artists should be funded by alternative sources. Disuss both views and give your own opinion.
Answer:
There is some controversy in today’s world is the funding of creative artists. While some people think governments should provide public subsidies for artists, I would argue that money for art should come from other sources.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why art activities should be encouraged by governments. Firstly, economic development usually associates with growth of tourism services which create the huge profit for each country. As a result, in the famous cities of the world, governments often invest in art projects such as: statues, sculptures and art galleries to attractive visitor and tourists. Secondly, if a country were not have art activities, this country would not preserve culture, heritage and history of them. This triggers the drawbacks in educating people about custome and tradition of nation. Therefore, governments play significant role in providing for artists.
On the other hand, I believe that spending state budgets on education and medicine should be top governments priorities. One reason for this is that in the developing countries, inhabitants always have to suffer from living in indigence and privation. While children are not gone to shool and the elder people are not supported healthcare services, art projects like: status or scultures are built in streets and squares of cities seem to waste of money and luxury. Hence, what governments should do is to allocate resources to enhancing educational quality to boost economic development; as well as, providing public healthycare services to improve people’s living standard. In addition, artists is also the same as other people. They can earn money by selling their work that do not need any assistance of governments.
In conclution, it seems to me that artists should rely on alternative sources of financial supports, instead of governments.
