Offering rewards to good scorers is one of incentive programs which schools often launch after examination to motivate students. However, there is a suggestion that moderate achievers are worth being encouraged for their own endeavor, instead of straight a students. From my point of view, I believe that young learners who are having the high scores or improving the academic performance should be deserved to reward.
On the one hand, those who contend that praising for high-scorers would bring positive benefits not only for high-scoring students but also for weaker counterparts. In fact, it is difficult for learners to achieve the best academic performance since it requires the diligence, sustained efforts and a little intelligence. Therefore, paying compliments to the best students tend to create the feel of pride and achievement that motivate them to maintain and enhance their scholastic achievement during their academic career. Furthermore, granting incentives to the top students will set shining examples for weaker ones which make them aware that they need to make an endeavor to work harder to keep up with their peers.
On the other hand, others have a tendency to think that making improvements in study should be recognized. Rewarding according to performance enhancement gives students a boost of confidence. Average students tend to think that it is impossible for them to compete their peers who have a higher IQ even though they make an effort to progress. Therefore, if their improvements are appreciated they might indulge themselves in learning. For example, when a teacher praises students, who have trouble for countable skill, in front of class, it would motivate them to continue making improvement in math subject.
In conclusion, both the best academic performance of students and the improvement of ones are worth being reward due to their endeavor. It would motivate the vast number of students to make an effort in enhancing their results.
