Writing to My Senator (Please someone proof my writing)

Please can someone review this letter and let me know if it is ok to send it to my senator:
I am one of the recently swear in American citizen and my husband still leave in my old country of origin, and would like for him to visit me for the holidays. My son who is in the Navy consulted the National Visa Center a while ago and they informed him that it is not important that I filed an immigrant visa petition for my husband since he is only visiting for couple of months.
I know that you’re not a member of the judiciary committee but you equally for the overall quality of life for the men, women, and families of the United States.
Also, am enclosing copies of the nonimmigrant visa application and my husband passport showing the stamp by one of the consular in the embassy. I am asking you to use your good office to look into this matter and see what you can do to help me so that my husband can be granted a visitor’s visa.
